7/3/12 - an INEDIBLE recipe for DIY Febreze fabric spray.

Background - This is for you Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (coupon queen...)

I ran out of Febreze fabric spray this morning. :( I love this stuff. It makes my bedroom, bathroom and closet smell sooooo purdy! On the other hand, I HATE spending money. I remembered a while back that my friend Skipper posted a recipe for DIY Tide on her Facebook page. I went on google today and checked to see if there are any DIY recipes for Febreze spray. Sure enough:

This lady has an awesome blog by the way...

Anyway, I went to the grocery store and bought the liquid fabric softener. It was the SAME price as a new bottle of Febreze. I'm no math wizard, but I only had to use 1/8 cup of the softener and got a whole new bottle of DIY Febreze out of it.....seems like a "gonga deal" (a term my older sister used to use for a really really really really really good deal).

This Downy scent is called "Orchid Allure" and it smells like beautiful perfume.

The recipe calls for 1/8 cup fabric softener, 2 tablespoons baking soda (which you'd better already have in your fridge Arika!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)  and hot tap water. THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I know there's supposed to be a picture of me putting the baking soda in, but because I never worked for the Columbian Drug Cartels in the 1980's, my skills at getting baking soda into the small hole of the Febreze container are clumsy at best. It took absolute concentration and two hands, so, no photo...)
After you fill up the bottle, shake it a bunch. Then, go try it. All I can say is, WOW, my sheets smell soooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, it's not a food recipe, but it's definitely something worth trying if you're a Febreze kind of person and want to save BIG BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
